5 songs lyrics that could really be about my chest infection

I’m going on week 3 of the never ending cold. Shoot me now. It has progressed into a RESPIRATORY INFECTION, oh glory be. I have been sick since January, and I’m having a hard time coping, and spending a lot of time in bed. My homemade remedies and green shakes have failed me, and I’ve moved on to antibiotics, corticosteroids, and narcotic-laced cough syrup. My doctor is so amused: he’s seen me so much we’re like pals.

ANYWAYS. A lot of this time has been spent listening to music, and then I noticed that some of the lyrics could have a more literal meaning.

1. “When it gets cold outside . . . It’s getting harder and harder to breathe.” Maroon 5, Harder to Breathe.

2. “I’m still alive but I’m barely breathing.” The Script, Breakeven

3. “It only hurts when I’m breathing.” Shania Twain, It Only Hurts When I’m Breathing

4. “I’m learning to fall, can’t hardly breathe. When I’m going down, don’t worry about me.” Boys Like Girls, Learning to Fall

5. “Is this my life? Am I breathing underwater?” Metric, Breathing Underwater

As you can see, I’ve taken most of these songs out their original “lost love” contexts. Aside from “Breathing Underwater”, which pretty accurately reflects my life right now. Which I hate.

See this face? This face is so done.

See this face? This face is so done.

I’ll let you know if I make it to exams.
